There are 484,000 miles of gathering and transmission pipelines in the U.S. and all of it corrodes!

Corrosion is the primary cause affecting the longevity and reliability of more than 484,000 miles of transmission and gathering pipelines that transport our crucial energy sources throughout the U.S. and Canada. At an estimated cost of $1.1 million per mile, the replacement value of the transmission pipeline system in the United States is $540 billion.

A significant investment is at risk and as a result, the overall goal of the pipeline industry is to preserve the infrastructure. Implementing corrosion control technologies/strategies is critical to ensuring the safety and efficiencies of U.S. pipelines.
