Welcome to Western Area Conference 2008 in San Francisco

Protecting Our Aging Infrastructure

The San Francisco chapter of NACE is proud to host this year's conference and has developed an excellent technical program which will benefit engineers from water, oil and gas, power, infrastructure, engineering design firms and many other related industries.

The highlights of the program include 3-4 hour long educational tutorials on basics of corrosion and its control, cathodic protection, theory and application and art & science of coating applications and inspections. Technical papers covering an array of infrastructure corrosion issues such as cost benefit of corrosion control, cathodic protection of oil & gas as well as water & waste water systems, corrosion control for steel, concrete, ductile iron pipelines, evaluation of asbestos cement pipe systems, inspection methods, use of coatings, and the application of such methods to the utility pipeline, treatment plant, and building industries. Case histories of failure analysis as well as success stories by local and nationally renowned experts will be presented. Panel discussions will also cover these and many other infrastructure related topics.
