Both industry and regulatory authorities have recognized the importance of maintaining the robustness of safety-related coatings in the restrictive and safety-critical nuclear power plant environment and, as a result, new technologies and updated standards have been developed to improve coatings work in nuclear power plants.

The NACE one-day nuclear coatings symposium will be held in conjunction with the annual meetings for ASTM International's nuclear coatings committees and the Nuclear Utility Coatings Council (NUCC).
