Welcome to the 2011 Department of Defense Corrosion Conference
Thank you to our sponsors:
The Department of Defense (DoD) is raising awareness of corrosion costs and prevention programs throughout the armed forces and has developed a comprehensive strategy to confront corrosion. The 2011 Department of Defense Corrosion Conference is the largest corrosion conference for the DoD and it will encompass all branches of the military. Hosted by the Army, this year's conference will cover the equipment and facilities that continue to combat corrosion.
Information exchanged between the DoD, private industry, academia, and other government agencies will be shared at this forum to reduce the negative impacts of corrosion on readiness and safety. Corrosion of military equipment and infrastructure costs the Department of Defense approximately $20 billion every year, and the DoD is continually seeking new solutions for personnel who procure, use, and maintain military materiel, equipment and facilities/infrastructure. This conference is only held every other year, and this year will be held at the exclusive La Quinta Resort and Club, a Waldorf Astoria property near Palm Springs, California, from July 31st to August 5th.
The Department of Defense Corrosion Conference, held every two years, is the best opportunity for government employees and elected officials to discuss ways to advance the corrosion mitigation practices of the DoD. Along with keynote speaker LaVar Burton, this highly regarded technical program will present topics impacting our military’s readiness, safety, logistics, and cost for both equipment and infrastructure.
