Welcome to the CORROSION 2014 Conference Headquarters
Of the many technical and educational resources, public awareness activities, and networking opportunities produced by NACE International, our annual conference is one of the top reasons so many corrosion professionals thrive in their careers. By taking advantage of the technical program, committee meetings, seminars and lectures, training opportunities, networking venues, and the largest corrosion exhibition in the world, attendees bring the latest corrosion knowledge back to their workplace.
This CORROSION 2014 site contains everything you need to plan for and navigate NACE International's 69th annual conference. More than 6,000 corrosion professionals from around the world will convene in San Antonio, Texas, next March to obtain information that is invaluable to their professions and share knowledge with their peers.
The accompanying NACE Expo will feature more than 380 companies displaying the latest in corrosion control products and services. In addition, the popular cathodic protection test field will return to the exhibit floor for the third year, and the NACE Foundation's 10th Annual Silent Auction featuring gift items and collectibles will be on display through Wednesday. The Expo Grand Opening—the most popular event each year—will kick off the CORROSION 2014 exhibition on Monday evening.
The technical program, with more than 40 symposia, will feature paper presentations on a wide range of corrosion topics, including corrosion management across all industries, corrosion issues related to carbon capture and storage, direct assessment techniques, and managing corrosion with polymers. Forums throughout the week will address such topics as microbiologically influenced corrosion, how to measure corrosion control return on investment, and a special session specifically for coating contractors. A basic workshop will provide instruction on the proper use of coating adhesion test equipment and standards.
Conference attendees will have the opportunity to learn the latest in regulations and standards impacting the corrosion industry. A Department of Transportation forum will cover specification and inspection issues, common problems on painting projects and how they can be handled, structural repairs, and more. The annual Corrosion and Punishment Forum provides insight into the legal side of corrosion control and the critical importance of complying with regulations. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Forum will present updates on rulemaking and give government and operator perspectives on regulations.
As always, there are numerous social opportunities to spend time with friends and expand your network of corrosion professionals. Popular annual events include the NACE Foundation's Sunday morning NACE Race and Darrel Byerley Memorial Golf Tournament, the Sunday evening Opening Reception, the "30 Below" event on Monday night for students and new members under 30 years of age, the NACE Foundation's Tuesday evening scholarship awards and "March Masquerade" event, and the Wednesday evening Awards Dinner. New this year is the Technical Committees 101 gathering on Sunday and Monday morning, where technical committee officers and NACE staff members will provide basic information on how technical committees work, the benefits of being on technical committees, and how you can become involved.
This site contains complete details on all you will experience and learn during CORROSION 2014. With NACE International membership at an all-time high of more than 30,000 corrosion professionals in 130 countries, this is bound to be one of our most successful conferences in NACE history. I look forward to seeing you in San Antonio!
