The grand opening of the Exhibit Hall is the most popular event each year. CORROSION 2014 attendees will get their first opportunity to meet with more than 380 exhibiting companies. Student Poster Session

The Research Committee sponsors a Student Poster Session at each CORROSION conference to encourage students to become active in NACE and to present the results of their work to the membership.

Students entered posters in one of three categories: (1) the Marcel Pourbaix category for the field of corrosion science; (2) the Mars Fontana category for the field of corrosion engineering; and (3) the Harvey Herro category for the field of applied corrosion technology. First-, second-, and third-place prizes are awarded to winners in each category.

The posters are judged based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific/engineering/technology approach
  • Content
  • Thoroughness
  • Novelty of approach
  • Potential impact on the corrosion community and/or the public
  • Clarity and neatness of presentation

The Poster Session will be located before the Exhibit Hall on the right. The students will staff their posters from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday and again on Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

In addition, BP is sponsoring the Student Poster Session and will award prizes to the winners. The NACE Foundation will present travel scholarships to many students, which enables them to travel to the conference. Student participants receive complimentary registration to the conference, along with a complimentary one-year NACE student membership.

On-site Instructions for Participating Students

  1. When you arrive at the conference, please go to registration and pick up your student badge.
  2. The poster area will be open for setup between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014. Your poster position will be clearly identified with your name and affiliation. The posters will be placed in the Exhibit Hall where the opening reception and all breaks will be held.
  3. There will be a student orientation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014. You should plan on attending this lunch so that you can receive important information and any travel assistance that you may have applied to receive.
  4. You must be present at your poster on Monday, March 10, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. during the opening of the Exhibit Hall and on Tuesday, March 11, from noon to 1:00 p.m. for the judging evaluation process. Please try to attend your poster during normal coffee and lunch breaks during the rest of the week so that you can explain your project and interact with the CORROSION 2014 attendees.
  5. The judges are being asked to interview each one of you during the times listed above. This step is intended to test your depth of knowledge and give you experience in speaking about your work.
