CORROSION 2009 Guest Program The Guest Program is a social program designed for the enjoyment of the guests of conference registrants. Guest program registration does not give attendees access to any technical symposia or committee meetings. For those who choose to register for the Guest Program, the registration fee includes the following activities:
Please note: The Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening is available for an additional fee of $85 per person. Registration To register for the Guest Program click here. Guest program location All Guest Program activities (excluding the Annual Awards Dinner, which requires an additional fee) will be in the Omni Hotel at CNN Center. Tour buses will depart from and return to the Omni Hotel.
Guest Program Events Sunday Ladies are invited to an afternoon tea and open house hosted by NACE First Lady Denise Byerley, in the Omni Hotel CNN Center from 2 to 5 p.m. The location will be announced in the Guest Program distributed on site in Atlanta. Monday Continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m. followed at 9 a.m. with an overview of important information for visitors to Atlanta and information on available tours. The overview will then be followed by a special in-house program from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In-House Program: Introduction to the High Museum You will enjoy a wonderful presentation by Kevin Streiter, manager of Museum Facilities at the High Museum. Streiter will offer insight into the history of the architecture of the High Museum, the unique facts about the building, and the impressive exhibits currently on display. This presentation will set the stage for a tour offered on Tuesday. Tuesday Continental breakfast will be served between 8 and 11 a.m. Wednesday Continental breakfast will be served between 8 and 11 a.m. Annual Awards Dinner (additional fee required) The Annual Awards Dinner, which takes place at the Georgia Aquarium. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m. The President’s Reception precedes the dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the ballroom foyer. Thursday Continental breakfast will be served between 8 and 11 a.m. OPTIONAL TOURS It is not necessary to be registered for the Guest Program to purchase tour tickets. The deadline for advance purchase is Friday, February 27, 2009. Atlanta Arrangements, Inc. is the official guest tour coordinator for CORROSION 2009. Please purchase tours directly from Atlanta Arrangements; reservations cannot be made through NACE International. All tours are on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to cancellation if minimum registration numbers are not met. Advance purchase of tour tickets is recommended. Prepaid tour tickets may be picked up in Atlanta at the guest tour desk located in the Omni Hotel CNN Center. Tours will be sold at the tour desk for an additional $5 fee and on a space available basis only. The tour desk in the Omni Hotel will be open during the following times: Sunday 1 to 5pm
Monday, March 23 Prepare yourself for an exciting taste of Atlanta! Relax as your guide acquaints you with the city’s history. Visit the MLK Center, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birth home and tomb. Catch a glimpse of Atlanta’s exciting attractions like the World of Coca-Cola, CNN Center, Fox Theatre and much, much more. Visit the historical Margaret Mitchell House, home to the author of Gone With the Wind. At the end of the tour, you will receive a “Taste of the Peach” recipe brochure so you can create mouth-watering Southern meals when you return home.
Wednesday, March 25 Visit the glorious Atlanta Botanical Gardens, a showcase of the most beautiful and unusual flora in the Southeast region. Stroll through the hardwood forest, lovely vegetable, rose, or Japanese gardens. Tropical plants and free-flying birds make up the majority of the exhibit. Next you will head to Atlantic Station, a community that combines an attractive mix of world-class restaurants, theaters, and retailers. |
