Protecting the Power of Tomorrow The nuclear industry is experiencing new opportunities and regeneration after a decades-long standstill due to the events at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. The recent Fukushima Daiichi disaster also has many countries with operating and developing nuclear power plants ensuring that the industry’s safety standards continue to be upheld at their facilities. With these new developments high-performance coatings have become an increased area of focus. Both industry and regulatory authorities have recognized the importance of maintaining safety-related coatings in the restrictive and safety-critical nuclear power plant environment. This comprehensive symposium will bring together industry personnel and coatings professionals to discuss important topics in the area of protective coatings for nuclear power plant facilities including coatings on buried pipe, regulatory updates by the USNRC, and requirements for inspection of safety-related coatings.
The NACE one-day nuclear coatings symposium will be held in conjunction with the annual meetings for ASTM International's nuclear coatings committees and the Nuclear Utility Coatings Council (NUCC). The technical program for the three associations will be:
Why should you attend? The one-day symposium will focus on current events, new initiatives, technology, and training in nuclear power plant coatings. A range of coatings related topics will be presented to assist the decision making process of the utility power plant personnel responsible for the selection, procurement, application, maintenance, and assessment of the effectiveness of the coatings systems at their plants. Who should attend? The symposium will be of interest to individuals involved with the selection, procurement, application, maintenance and assessment of effectiveness of coatings at nuclear power generating facilities. It will be of particular benefit to the following types of individuals associated with coatings or nuclear power plants:
