MP Magazine Announces Recipients of its Readers’ Choice Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards

By Kathy Riggs Larsen, Associate Editor, Materials Performance

In September 2011, Materials Performance magazine, published by NACE International, invited those involved in the worldwide corrosion control industry—including individuals, companies, organizations, and governments—to submit nominations for the debut of its MP Readers’ Choice Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards.

“Our goal with the awards program is to provide a forum where NACE International members and customers can showcase their technology and be recognized for it,” said NACE Executive Director Bob Chalker.

The corrosion-control community nominated a total of 64 innovations from 17 countries around the world. These nominations represent groundbreaking advances in coatings and linings, cathodic protection, materials and design, instrumentation, testing, integrity assessment, chemical treatments, and other corrosion prevention and mitigation technologies.

In January 2012, MP readers worldwide were asked to review the nominations, which were posted on the NACE Web site, and vote online for the 10 they felt were the most innovative for controlling corrosion. More than 7,000 votes were cast and every innovation submitted received recognition from voters.

The top 10 innovations, chosen by MP readers, were announced by NACE President Oliver Moghissi at CORROSION 2012 Conference and Exposition in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are listed below.
