Dr. Harvey Hack Elected President of NACE International

NACE International recently announced the appointment of its next President, Dr. Harvey P. Hack, PhD. An active member of NACE for nearly 40 years, Dr. Hack began his one-year term as president on March 14, 2014.

"I am looking forward to serving as president this year," said Hack. "This is a time of rapid growth for the corrosion industry and NACE International is dedicated to serving our members and to building cooperative relationships with organizations worldwide who share our mission. We are expanding our services globally with new offices and training facilities in areas where there is increasing demand for education and training. It is an exciting time for the industry and the association."

Dr. Hack previously served as Vice President of NACE International, and is a Senior Advisory Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Undersea Systems. He is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASTM International, Past President of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards, and was Chairman of the USA Task Advisory Group and head of the USA delegation to ISO Technical Committee 156 on Corrosion of Metals. Additionally, Dr. Hack is a certified NACE Corrosion Specialist, Cathodic Protection Specialist, and Coatings Inspector Level III.

Dr. Hack received the T. J. Hull and the Distinguished Service Awards from NACE International, the Frank W. Reinhart Award and the Award of Merit from ASTM International, the Francis L. LaQue Memorial Award from ASTM Committee G01, the Francis L. LaQue Award from the Sea Horse Institute, the McFarland Award from the Pennsylvania State University and ASM International, and the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Science from the Washington Academy of Sciences. He is a Fellow of NACE International, ASTM International, the Institute of Corrosion, and the Washington Academy of Sciences; and has published more than 100 publications and is the author, editor, or contributor to six books.

Dr. Hack received his PhD in Metallurgy from The Pennsylvania State University, and he is a Maryland Certified Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering.
